How it works

The finder applies all selected constraints to the published catalog: session length, player mode, pace, input, and genre. A game must pass every selected check. Unanswered questions and “Any” choices leave that constraint open. Matches are sorted by title, not by a recommendation score.

Worked example

Choose 5 minutes, Just me, Untimed, Keyboard, and Memory. Memory Match qualifies: its listed session is 2–5 minutes, it is solo and untimed, and its full card-matching loop supports the keyboard. Other games meeting those same checks remain in the result; this is not a one-answer quiz.

The time check uses the upper end of the catalog range. A game labeled 2–6 minutes fails a 5-minute limit even though some rounds could finish sooner. Broaden one answer if you would rather see those possibilities.

What it cannot do

  • Session labels are estimates, not measurements of your pace or a guarantee that you will finish.
  • Keyboard filtering uses the catalog's keyboard-complete flag; it does not test your hardware or assistive technology. The “Mouse or touch” option currently checks the pointer-input flag.
  • The finder does not score enjoyment, inspect past play, test a game's difficulty, or connect two devices for multiplayer.
  • Only the catalog bundled with this build is searched. Answers and results stay in page memory and are not saved.

FAQ

Is the Game Finder a ranking?

No. It returns games that match your five answers, sorted alphabetically. The result order is not a quality rating, and the tool says so.

Why does it sometimes return no game?

Not every combination has a match in the current catalog. The tool says that plainly and suggests which answer to broaden instead of silently ignoring one.

What does "keyboard only" mean here?

The game catalog marks a game as keyboard-complete when the full core loop (start, every move, restart) works with the keyboard alone. Pass the Picture is excluded because strokes need pointer or touch.
