Site search and ten calm new soundscapes

A new built-in site search covers every game, guide, article, tool, setup note, and page, and the ambient mixer now offers ten calm procedural nature and music soundscapes instead of plain noise.

Two additions are live. The first is site search: a search field in the site header and on the 404 page looks across every game, guide, article, tool, setup note, collection, and main page. The index is a small static JSON file built with the site, so queries are matched entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent to a server — and searches are shareable with a ?q= link.

The second replaces the ambient mixer’s older noise-focused options with ten calm procedural soundscapes: six nature scenes (meadow morning, mountain stream, zen garden, ocean shore, pine forest, summer night) and four calm music beds (floating pads, kalimba lullaby, singing bowls, music box drift). Every soundscape is still generated live with the Web Audio API — no recordings, no loops — and saved ambient choices migrate automatically to the closest new soundscape.

Word Search and Mini Sudoku join the arcade

Word Search and a 6×6 Mini Sudoku with pencil marks round out the solo catalog — two more untimed, local games for the Quiet Arcade.

Two more solo games are now available: Word Search (eight curated themes, 8×8 and 10×10 grids, hints that identify a starting letter) and Mini Sudoku (a 6×6 grid with 3×2 boxes, pencil marks, an on-screen digit pad, and a unique-solution generator). Both are untimed and keep only a completion count in local storage; each ships with a field guide and a game article.

Five new solo games join the Quiet Arcade

Klondike Solitaire, FreeCell, Nonogram, 2048, and Tile Garden join the arcade with a site-wide sound pass — all untimed, all local, all without accounts.

Five more solo games are now available: Klondike Solitaire (draw-1 or draw-3, with keyboard card movement), FreeCell (all 52 cards face-up), Nonogram (24 curated puzzles with a plain-text clue view), 2048, and Tile Garden (a calm merge game with three modes). Each one follows the Quiet Arcade principles: no timer where none is needed, no account, no leaderboard, no streak, and no dark patterns. Results stay in local storage as personal records, and a site-wide sound pass gives every game the same small, mutable set of result sounds.

Pass & Play: six games for two players on one device

Tic-Tac-Toe, Dots & Boxes, Four in a Row, Reversi, Last Token, and Pass the Picture — local two-player games with a shared handoff screen, session-only names, and one bounded match record per game.

Pass & Play is a new family of games for two people sharing one screen: Tic-Tac-Toe (3×3, 4×4, and first-to-3 matches), Dots & Boxes (4×4 and 6×6), Four in a Row (7×6 and 6×5), Reversi (8×8 with legal-move hints and automatic passes), Last Token (misère take-away rounds), and Pass the Picture (a cooperative shared canvas with a local PNG download). Every turn passes through one shared handoff screen that names the next player and keeps the match tally. Player names last only for the browser session and are never stored; each game keeps a single most-recent match record on the device, shown in the new Pass & Play section of My Arcade and removed by the same Clear game data control. There are no accounts, no timers, no computer opponents, and no network play anywhere in the set.

My Arcade shows what this browser saved

A private local dashboard for recent play and each game's own saved result, with no account and no synchronization.

My Arcade collects the game results already stored in the browser you are using: what you played recently, the best result or progress each game keeps, and a link back into the game and its guide. It is not an account, nothing is uploaded, and results do not move between browsers or devices. Clearing game data on Privacy — or from the matching control on the dashboard — removes the underlying values and leaves your separate analytics choice alone.

NoCharge brand identity and media presence

A new NoCharge symbol, complete favicon package, default social card, public media page, downloadable media kit, and a general site feed.

NoCharge now has a deliberately constructed brand symbol — four rounded tiles with an open doorway — replacing the provisional letter mark. The package includes full favicon and PWA icon sets, dark and light lockups, monochrome variants, a default social card, and a public /media/ page with accurate facts, selected game assets, and a reproducible media kit. A general site feed (/feed.xml) publishes meaningful platform updates alongside the existing Quiet Setup feed.

Beacon Lattice joined the Quiet Arcade

Beacon Lattice joined the arcade with 24 puzzles, a complete guide, three supporting articles, and original artwork.

Beacon Lattice is a logic game about placing beacons so every required cell is covered exactly once. The launch includes 24 puzzles, keyboard and touch controls, local progress, a complete guide, and three focused articles.

More ways to choose and return to a game

Recently Played, reviewed collections, and platform explainers made the small arcade easier to explore.

Recently Played now helps you return to games after meaningful play. Four collections offer specific ways to browse the same arcade, and platform articles explain NoCharge’s approach to quiet play, local scores, adaptable controls, and browser-game checks.

Advertising became a single labeled banner

The previous advertising service was replaced by one responsive Google AdSense banner near the bottom of eligible pages.

The banner remains labeled Advertisement and separate from gameplay. Google Privacy & Messaging handles advertising choices; NoCharge’s optional analytics choice remains separate. See the Advertising Disclosure for current details.

Controls, pause, and Resume became clearer

Keyboard paths, an untimed Color Flip mode, and clearer pause and Resume behavior improved the arcade experience.

The games now make more of their controls available to keyboard players, while Color Flip offers an untimed turn-based mode. Shared pause, Resume, mute, restart, and return-after-switching-tabs behavior is documented in the guides.

This historical entry records the advertising setup that preceded the current banner.

NoCharge previously used a different advertising service and consent arrangement. That setup was replaced on August 18, 2026; this short note remains so the public history is not erased.

Game artwork made the arcade easier to scan

The game pages and guides gained distinct covers, diagrams, and real gameplay previews.

Each game received a visual set for its arcade card, guide, controls, and sharing previews. Gameplay previews remain captures of the mounted games; the artwork does not change game rules.

NoCharge opened with four games and four guides

Memory Match, Word Tile Rush, Color Flip, and Beacon Lattice are paired with complete player guides.

The arcade pairs each game with a guide covering its actual rules, controls, scoring, and practical play notes. Games open without an account, and local best results stay in the player’s browser.
