Originals Only

NoCharge games whose rules are not a named third-party title: custom mechanics, original art, honest limits.

Inclusion method

Include a current game when its ruleset is not a named third-party game clone and the implementation is NoCharge's own design — verified against the game catalog's isOriginal field, which is a factual classification, not a quality claim.

These are the games NoCharge designed rather than reimplemented. They are not necessarily “better” than the classics — the classification says where the rules came from, not how good they are.

Why this collection exists

NoCharge ships both classic rules (Klondike, Nonogram, Sudoku) and originals. This collection separates the two so readers can find the custom designs without assuming the classics are clones of a specific brand — and without assuming originals are superior.

How we decide inclusion

  1. The ruleset is not a named third-party game: no clone of Wordle, Spelling Bee, 2048, or any trademarked title by name or trade dress.
  2. The mechanics are implemented first for NoCharge, with original naming and art.
  3. The catalog’s isOriginal field is true and the classification is reviewed with each catalog change.

Twenty Forty-Eight is excluded: it is NoCharge’s original implementation of a well-known 2048-style merge, but the rules are not NoCharge’s.

What you will find in the grid

Each card shows genre, session length, and the rule-set fact that qualifies it. Originals also carry a stronger guide and at least one systems article explaining how the mechanic differs from familiar games — see Beacon Lattice’s exact-coverage article and Color Flip’s visual-versus-turn-based article.

Limits

  • Original does not mean free of influence; mechanics can be inspired by familiar puzzles.
  • Original does not mean tested-with-you or medically beneficial.
  • NoCharge does not claim novelty protection; this is a factual editorial classification.

  • How exact coverage works in Beacon Lattice
  • Visual mode versus turn-based Color Flip
  • Registry facts
  • Logic & Number
  • Untimed or reduced pressure
